Beautiful walking routes to explore the Ayrshire landscape
Outside the Cottage's Front Door
There are several circular walks that begin and end just outside the cottage door, all following quiet single-track roads throughout. These range from approximately 1 mile to 10 miles in length. There are five routes in particular that we regularly enjoy ourselves and would highly recommend. Full details of all the walks are included in the cottage information pack, which will be available to you on arrival.
Ayr Beach and Harbour Walk
A delightful coastal stroll along Ayr's beautiful sandy beach and esplanade. Starting from the Wellington Square, walk to the right along the promenade to the small lighthouse and harbour, go left to walk along the sandy beach and dunes up to the River Doon Millennium Bridge. Various places to enjoy fish and chips from the local vendor or pop into The Wellington pub for a hot or cold drink. Return via the town centre to explore shops and cafes.
